FUN & FUND-RAISING
The Autumn Show Apart from the money received from hire charges, the other principle source of income for the Community Centre derives from the Annual Show of Vegetables, Fruit, Flowers,
Homecrafts & Flower Arrangements. This is held on the second Saturday in September each year and all proceeds are reinvested in a continuous programme of improving the facilities of the Centre.
Competition in nearly 70 different classes is fierce but friendly and a number of cups and prizes are awarded towards the end of the Show which culminates in an auction of the produce which has been on display.
Entries are welcome from villagers of all ages and there a number of special classes exclusively for the younger members of the community.
Copies of the Autumn Show Schedule are delivered to every household in the parish in the early summer so there is plenty of time for everybody to prepare their entries! The Show is open to all villagers and entry is free. Also free are the refreshments served throughout the Show and there are a number of other activities to amuse you and, some cases, lighten your purse …
The Spring Show Introduced for the first time in 2006, the Spring Show is really an excuse to celebrate the end of winter and the coming of better weather… The show is held around Easter-time and colourful flowers and interesting photographs are the order of the day. Together with seasonal homecrafts and a handicrafts section, there is every opportunity for villagers to share their interests and hobbies with the rest of the community. Copies of Spring Show Schedule are distributed early in the New Year and, like the Annual Show, it is open to all and entry is free.
