NHW is a national scheme. Its aim is to reduce crime in the locality where YOU live. In Warwickshire it is run by the Warwickshire Police with links to your ‘Southam safer neighbourhoods together’ team. If you would like to be a co-ordinator for your street please contact Allan Charles for more information on 812571
Warwickshire Police web site gives a wealth of help and information regarding local crime in specific geographical areas. Any concerns regarding on-going crime, nuisance, damage etc can be reported direct to the police by telephoning 101, by email or twitter or indeed via Mr Allan Charles on 812751 or firstname.lastname@example.org, the present NHW coordinator for the village.
The local safer neighbourhood team interact with the parishes and through forums priorities which are drawn up identifying specific areas the Police will concentrate on for the next few months. This can be anything from excessive speed to drug dealing. In addition the team holds a local surgery in the church on the last Thursday of the month in winter and on the coop car park during the summer where you can meet face to face with any grievances you may have
On the whole crime in Long Itchington could be classed as low level. Indeed you are more likely to be targeted by the various telephone / computer scams that are in abundance through this modern world of instant communications. Remember NEVER give personal bank details or pin numbers to cold callers. These scams are run by criminals highly skilled in getting you to part with your cash. Never, if asked, should you ring back on a telephone number beginning with 07 or 09. These are premium rate numbers and it is possible to be hit by a huge telephone bill as a result.
